MSHA Home Study Course
“For Minnesota, By Minnesota”
A CE Membership Value
The MSHA Home Study Course was created in 2006 to allow members to read web-based articles for summer-only continuing education self-study. In 2008, online lectures were added as a new approach. Today, the MSHA Home Study Courses have been approved for multiple offerings, allowing members to earn credit through lectures or articles up to three years after publication. The course is offered to MSHA members at no charge and provides an opportunity to earn ASHA CEUs and Minnesota Department of Education or Department of Health clock hours.
The course consists of lectures and articles representing “for Minnesota, by Minnesota” presenters who are academic faculty or community partners. The lectures and articles provide continuing education in speech, language, swallowing, and professional issues. These lectures and articles are only accessible to MSHA members on the protected membership area of our MSHA Web site. Any current MSHA member is eligible to participate.
Participant Responsibility:
Like all MSHA CE activities, the MSHA Home Study Course is a voluntary opportunity. Participants must agree to work independently. Participants may elect to view any number of the lectures or articles. To receive CE credit, participants must answer the corresponding CE questions accurately (see pass/fail criteria), and submit response materials for review by the published deadlines.
Pass / Fail Criteria:
MSHA Home Study Course Editors will grade and record all participant responses. PASS requires 4 correct responses out of 5 CE questions for each lecture or article. Participants are eligible for 0.1 ASHA CEUs or one clock hour from the Minnesota Department of Health or Department of Education for each lecture or article. See the list of lectures and articles to see the CE area approved for each lecture or article.

Presenter/Author Disclosure:
Lectures and articles submitted for the MSHA Home Study Course are a donation from the presenter/author to MSHA; no presenter or author received any honorarium for the contribution. No presenter or author has any proprietary interest in the material.
For more information, please contact MSHA’s Vice President for Professional Development.
